Alumni Spotlight: Nahdia Philyaw Rose, 2024 Grad

How PACS opened doorways to new opportunities

Supportive. Helpful. Encouraging. Those are the three words Nahdia Philyaw Rose uses to describe her experience at Passport Academy Charter School, a place that gave her the structure and motivation she needed to succeed. After overcoming emotional challenges and seeking a more flexible environment, Nahdia joined PACS in search of a better path. What she found was a community that helped her reset, refocus and graduate with confidence.

A New Direction

Nahdia learned about PACS through a friend and enrolled after facing a tough period in her life. The traditional school setting wasn’t working for her, and she needed something different. At PACS, she felt supported from the start. Teachers and staff met her where she was and offered the tools and encouragement to keep her moving forward academically and personally.

“PACS has provided me with a lot of support in overcoming challenges. They were there for me when I needed help and gave me the motivation to keep going,” she said.

Ready for What’s Next

Her time at PACS didn’t just prepare her for graduation—it prepared her for life. Through individualized attention and a more focused learning experience, she built skills in time management and learned to advocate for herself. That foundation is already serving her well: Nahdia recently launched her career as a real estate agent, turning her eye toward a future full of possibility.

“My time at PACS prepared me for life after graduation. I learned how to stay focused, how to manage my time and how to advocate for myself.”

Advice for Future Students

To those considering a different route in their education, Nahdia keeps her advice simple: stay focused, do the work and don’t be afraid to ask for help. She believes that leaning into the resources and support PACS offers is key to success.

“Pay attention in class, stay on top of your work and don’t be afraid to ask for help. It’s okay to lean on others. That’s how you grow.”

Looking Ahead

Nahdia’s story is one of resilience, self-discovery and progress. From navigating personal struggles to earning her diploma and launching her real estate career, she is proof that the right environment can make all the difference. With the support of PACS behind her, she’s already on to her next big move.
